  15. SYMPTOMS

  18. You try to install a driver using Windows NT Setup and the following
  19. error message appears:
  20.  
  21.    Noncritical Error
  22.    An error has occurred.
  23.  
  24.    Unable to open the file A:\xxxxx.xxx
  25.  
  26. CAUSE
  27. =====
  28.  
  29. The Floppy Device service has been stopped or disabled to increase
  30. system performance. Since Windows NT cannot read from the floppy
  31. drive, an error is generated.
  32.  
  33. RESOLUTION
  34. ==========
  35.  
  36. Either restart the Floppy Device service or use an alternate path
  37. which does not rely on a floppy drive, such as a CD-ROM drive. To
  38. restart the Floppy Device services, use the Devices portion of Control
  39. Panel.
